The Do’s and Don’ts of Contact Lens Care

Contact lens wearers need to be sure to care for their contacts adequately. Improper care can lead to ripped or torn contacts, or even worse, eye infections or scratches, which on occasion can lead to vision loss. People of all ages that are not capable of properly taking care of their contact lenses probably want to seek an alternate form of corrective eye wear.

Don't worry, though... contact lens care is simpler than it may seem. With all-in-one care systems and disposable lenses, caring for your contacts is cheaper, requires less time and involves less hassle than before. However, there are some important guidelines to be aware of.

First of all it's always best to speak to your optometrist to get personalized advice. In addition, make sure you don't switch your care routine without checking with your optometrist first. Certain solutions can react with each other or with specific lenses and can damage your eyes. Our experienced staff can help you decide on the proper care for your lenses.

All eye doctors recommend cleaning and disinfecting your lenses once a day. Make sure to do this immediately after you take out your lenses. Not only will your eyes be healthier, your contact lenses will feel more comfortable. Don't touch solution bottle tips to any area including your body because it can dirty the solution. Do your best to avoid getting sink water on your lenses, including washing your lens case, as it often transports a microorganism that can cause serious eye infections. Lastly, don't forget to dispose of your lenses after their intended use time to limit the risk of infection.

It's true that there may be an array of products out there, but armed with a little professional guidance you can care for your lenses with ease, ensuring healthier eyes and clearer vision!
